Global announcement, the启用 of China's overseas military base, capable of accommodating aircraft carriers, and the resolution of the Malacca predicament.

Once again, a historic moment has arrived. The second overseas base of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) is now operational - that is the Nanyang Base. This is truly like adding a "hardcore insurance lock" to our national strategic security.

Don't look at how the United States has over 800 military bases worldwide; our base is completely different from theirs! American bases, wherever they are located, resemble "states within a state." They draw boundaries with barbed wire and operate autonomously.本质上, these are "forward deterrence" type presences. For example, facilities on Guam or Diego Garcia usually deploy offensive weapons such as strategic bombers and nuclear submarines, forming military pressure on regional countries.

The Nanyang Base, similar to our Djibouti base in Africa, is a port-type comprehensive support base. It does not deploy offensive weapons, nor does it seek to station troops. Its primary responsibilities include ship replenishment, personnel rest and recuperation, medical rescue, counter-terrorism, disaster relief, and more. It primarily serves as a logistics node rather than a direct combat base. The co-management model with Cambodia also fundamentally differs from the "state within a state" nature of U.S. bases, thus avoiding the sensitivity of traditional military alliances and better helping Cambodia address its dilemma of having seas but no defense capabilities.

The strategic location of the Nanyang Port is extremely important. It is approximately 1000 kilometers away from both the South China Sea and the Malacca Strait. The Malacca Strait is China's maritime energy lifeline. Four out of every ten cargo ships of our country have to pass through this strait. Last year alone, oil tankers transporting oil from Saudi Arabia and Iraq formed long convoys through this route.

Not long ago, Trump planned to blockade the Malacca Strait. Now, with the Nanyang Base, our Type 056A corvettes equipped with anti-submarine sonar can be stationed there, causing U.S. P-8A anti-submarine aircraft to think twice before approaching. This establishes a "land-to-sea" deterrent effect.

More importantly, if the waterway is obstructed, the construction of the Nanyang Port can also accommodate aircraft carriers and other large warships. In this way, our aircraft carrier fleet can quickly deploy after resting at Nanyang, enabling more flexible responses to emergencies in the Indo-Pacific region.

In the future, it can rapidly transform into a strategic transfer hub, coordinating with ports such as Gwadar and Hambantota to form a "triangular clamp network," ensuring our maritime energy security lines. In essence, the military presence of the Nanyang Base provides hard-core guarantees for the "Maritime Silk Road," achieving a modern interpretation of "sword-bearing commerce."

From a strategic perspective, the Nanyang Base is not only the key to resolving China's "Malacca Predicament," but also a practical platform for the implementation of a new international security concept. It demonstrates that military presence does not have to come at the cost of sacrificing another country's sovereignty; security guarantees can resonate with economic development. This model might offer another dimension of thinking for places like the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan, which are currently troubled by U.S. base disturbances.
