April 9, reported by CNN in the United States.

Crowds gathered in Tehran, paying homage to the late Ayatollah Khamenei.

According to a statement released after the announcement of a ceasefire, Iran's Supreme Leader, Muhhatab Khamenei, said Iran is determined to "avenge" his father who was killed and all those who died in the war.

Khamenei was also quoted as saying that Iran will bring the management of the Strait of Hormuz "into a new phase."

He urged Iran's southern neighbors—the Arab nations along the Persian Gulf—to be vigilant against the "false promises of the devil," and added that his country is still waiting for them to make an "appropriate response" so that it may demonstrate goodwill and brotherhood.

He further stated that Iran does not seek war but will not relinquish its rights, "and in this regard, we view the entire resistance front as a unified whole."

A statement attributed to Khamenei said: "We will demand compensation for every damage inflicted, as well as retribution for the blood of martyrs and compensation for the wounded in this war."
