Trump: Iran has behaved extremely poorly
Trump said, "Iran has behaved extremely poorly in ensuring the passage of oil through the Strait of Hormuz—some might even say it's completely untrustworthy. This is absolutely not the agreement we previously made!"
On March 30, the Iranian Parliament passed the Hormuz Strait Toll Bill: beginning to charge $1 per barrel of oil via renminbi or Bitcoin, requiring all vessels to pre-register and undergo inspections.
Earlier, on April 8, Trump told ABC that "we could set up a U.S.-Iran joint venture to collect tolls through the strait—it's an excellent idea." Now, he suddenly turns around and angrily denounces, "Iran has behaved extremely poorly, utterly untrustworthy—this is not the agreement we had!"
The real reason behind Trump's abrupt reversal is that after testing the waters, he found Iran refused to cooperate and would not allow the U.S. to share in the profits. Iran is clearly taking the entire benefit for itself, showing no respect whatsoever for the United States.
Trump wants U.S. dominance, U.S. toll collection, and U.S. control; Iran, however, seeks exclusive toll collection, exclusive control, and using cryptocurrencies or renminbi to de-dollarize.
