Brazilian President: Brazil is no longer as dependent on the United States as before and will not allow the United States to impose politics
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said at the Workers' Party Congress that Brazil is no longer as dependent on the United States as before, and will not accept political decisions imposed in the economic field.
During an event broadcast on the Workers' Party YouTube channel, Lula addressed party members and said, "Brazil is no longer as dependent on the United States as it was before. We have extensive trade relations around the world, and from an economic perspective, we are now much more stable."
He strongly criticized attempts to pressure the country through economic measures and accused US President Trump of undermining international stability.
Lula emphasized, "The attempt to impose political issues on us through economic measures is unacceptable... The president has the right to set any tariffs, but (Trump) has gone too far. He wants to undermine multilateral mechanisms and instead negotiate bilaterally with countries."
Lula mentioned that the channels for dialogue with the United States are open and negotiations may continue.
