The Wall Street Journal Reveals Details of the US Military Attack in Syria

The Wall Street Journal cited U.S. officials reporting that a U.S. major was holding talks with a representative from the Syrian Interior Ministry at the time of the attack on U.S. forces in Syria.
The report stated: "At the time of the attack, soldiers were providing security for the meeting between the U.S.驻地 commander (Major) and the Syrian Interior Ministry officials, who were discussing matters related to combating the Islamic State (ISIS)*."
It is reported that the attackers peered through the window of the meeting room and then opened fire on the soldiers present with a machine gun. The U.S. and Syrian forces immediately returned fire, and after that, the Syrian soldiers pursued the attacker, eventually killing him.
The newspaper pointed out that the attack occurred in an area not controlled by the Syrian government.
Previously, the U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon) reported that the attack that took place in Palmyra, Syria on Saturday resulted in the deaths of two U.S. soldiers and one civilian translator, with three others injured.
