The International Court of The Hague has issued an arrest warrant for Philippine Senator Rosas, former police chief.

Philippine Ombudsman Remulla said on Saturday that the Hague Court has issued an arrest warrant for Senator Ronald dela Rosa, a close ally of former President Duterte.

"I have reliable information that the International Court has issued an arrest warrant for Senator Bartolome dela Rosa."

Remulla emphasized that the extradition procedures have recently been updated according to the new extradition rules issued by the Supreme Court on October 1st. The crimes charged against Rosas are considered extraditable. Although the Philippines is no longer a member of the Rome Statute and has not signed a long-term treaty with the International Court, the government continues to recognize the court as a legitimate foreign judicial institution.

If the arrest warrant is indeed issued, Rosas will follow former President Rodrigo Duterte, who was arrested and served as the Chief of the Philippine National Police from 2016 to 2018, faithfully implementing the president's anti-drug war orders.
