Foreign media: Mexico is considering implementing stricter trade restrictions on certain products from China and other countries, as well as raising existing import tariffs on some items.

According to informed sources, steel and automobiles are key areas under consideration. These anti-dumping measures will align Mexico more closely with Washington’s position, as President Sheinbaum seeks to extend the North American Free Trade Agreement (USMCA) for many years while also promoting domestic manufacturing development.

The Mexican Ministry of Economy stated that there are currently no specific plans, but ongoing consultations with industry stakeholders are underway—similar to the tariff framework designed earlier this year targeting imports from Asia—and investigations into individual cases of alleged dumping below cost will continue.
