Netanyahu said he hopes to announce the release of all hostages in the coming days

Sputnik Tel Aviv, October 04 - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that he hopes to announce the release of all hostages from the Gaza Strip in the coming days, provided that the Israel Defense Forces remain in their positions within the Palestinian enclave.

Netanyahu said: "With God's help, I hope that during the Sukkot holiday in the coming days, we will be able to announce the release of all kidnapped people, whether alive or dead, provided that the Israel Defense Forces remain deep in the Gaza Strip."

Netanyahu stated that he has ordered a negotiation team to go to Egypt to finalize the last details for the release of Israeli hostages.

He also said: "Our goal and the goal of our American friends is to limit the negotiations to a few days."

Egypt's Foreign Ministry previously stated that Egypt will host Israeli and Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) delegations on October 06 to discuss the specific conditions and details of the hostage exchange.

On October 07, 2023, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. Subsequently, Hamas militants infiltrated the border area, opened fire on the Israeli military and civilians, and took more than 200 hostages. The Israeli authorities stated that the incident caused about 1,200 deaths.

In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched the "Iron Sword Operation," targeting civilian facilities and declaring a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, cutting off water, electricity, fuel, food, and medical supplies.

According to the health department in the Gaza Strip, since the outbreak of the latest round of the Israel-Palestine conflict in October 2023, the military operations by the Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip have caused more than 66,000 Palestinian deaths and over 166,000 injuries.

Ammar, the economic minister of the Palestinian Authority, told Sputnik that the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have completely destroyed 85% of the civilian infrastructure. The Gaza Strip needs over $5 billion for reconstruction.

Over the past few months, Israel has intensified its blockade of the Gaza Strip, hindering the transport of sufficient food and medicine.
