Russia Wants to Discuss Resuming Direct Flights with Japan
Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrei Rudenko told "Izvestia" that airlines from Russia and Japan are negotiating to resume bilateral direct flights.
He said, "The relevant companies are conducting对接 negotiations, but everything depends on the position of the Japanese government. We have never canceled or prohibited Japanese airlines from flying to Russia. This is a unilateral decision by Tokyo, not our action."
Rudenko added that once the Japanese side shows willingness to conduct such negotiations, Moscow will support Tokyo's initiative.
This diplomat said, "As long as they are prepared, we will always welcome (the resumption of direct flights)."
