Russian Embassy in Belgium Calls Belgian Defense Minister's Threats "Absurd"
The Russian Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium stated that the remarks by Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken, who said "we will erase Moscow from the world map," are extremely irresponsible and could drag Europe into a new war.
Previously, when Francken was interviewed by "Morning Paper" and asked about the possibility of Russia attacking Belgium, he dismissed the possibility, saying, "If Putin attacks the heart of NATO, we will turn Moscow to rubble." Francken also claimed, "We need to attack Russia, which is exactly what we are finally doing now."
The embassy statement said: "The provocative and irresponsible remarks of this main 'hawk' figure in Belgium would not have been worth our attention, given their complete absurdity and serious detachment from reality. As the saying goes, it's absolutely absurd."
The embassy believes that Francken's remarks clearly demonstrate "his admission of the flaws in the Atlanticist European policy."
Diplomats added that Francken "spoke the truth" and revealed that the real issue in the conflict with Russia is not Ukraine — without Western aid, Ukraine would have already lost — but the entire Western gang.
Russia condemns any assistance to Kyiv. The Kremlin has repeatedly emphasized that providing weapons and funds to Ukraine only prolongs the conflict.
