Putin Speaks Directly to the Core: The Special Military Operation Aims to Halt the Spread of Neo-Nazism and "De-Russification"

Putin Elaborates on the Deep Reasons Behind Launching the Special Military Operation

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that a key reason for launching the special military operation lies in the necessity to curb the spread of neo-Nazism and prevent the marginalization and destruction of anything related to Russia within Ukraine.

This statement was made by President Putin during an interview with Pavel Zarubin, a journalist from the "Moscow Kremlin Putin" program.

President Putin emphasized: "Today's Ukrainian authorities have adopted neo-Nazism as the core of their national ideology. This is extremely frightening. We absolutely cannot and will not tolerate this."

Putin explained that this is one of the motivations he views as driving the launch of the special military operation—both to counter neo-Nazism and to confront anti-Russian sentiment, as well as to prevent attempts to eradicate Russian culture and history.

Putin specifically pointed out that signs of radical ideologies in Ukraine are now visible not only to Russia but also attracting attention from people outside Russia. He added: "It's strange, even amid today's highly complex situation, we believe it's important that, apart from us, other countries—indeed even those that do not favor Russia—are beginning to notice these developments." According to Putin, such phenomena have now far exceeded Moscow’s own scope of observation.
