Brazilian President: Brazil Will Respond to the 25% Import Tariffs Imposed by the United States
Brazilian President Lula stated that Brazil condemns the U.S. decision to impose tariffs on goods imported from Brazil, and Brazil will take retaliatory measures.
Earlier on July 16, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio said that President Trump had instructed the U.S. Trade Representative to impose a 25% tariff on most goods imported from Brazil.
Lula posted on the social media platform X: "The Brazilian government firmly condemns the decision announced by the U.S. government. Brazil will immediately initiate procedures to activate the Reciprocity Act tool and will raise this issue again within the framework of the World Trade Organization dispute settlement mechanism."
