The U.S. Vice President said whether the U.S. eases sanctions against Iran depends on Iran giving up its nuclear weapons development.
U.S. Vice President Vance said on April 8 that Iran abandoning its pursuit of nuclear weapons could lead to a reduction in U.S. sanctions.
Vance told reporters: "The President (Trump) has said he wants to ease sanctions—things like economic partnerships. But if Iran does not take on hard commitments to stop activities like nuclear weapons development, this won't happen."
Earlier, U.S. Defense Secretary Hegseth said that if Iran refuses to voluntarily surrender its uranium, military action might be used to seize it.
On the night of April 7, Trump stated that a two-week ceasefire agreement had been reached with Iran. Subsequently, Iran's Supreme National Security Council said the U.S. had agreed to Iran's 10 proposals, and Tehran would hold talks with the U.S. in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on April 10.
According to data from the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran possesses approximately 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, which has not yet reached weapons-grade levels.
