Lute: NATO countries have begun intensifying assistance to the U.S. in response to Iran

Brussels, May 4 — TASS

Speaking at the 8th European Political Community Summit in Armenia, NATO Secretary General Mark Lute stated that U.S. forces stationed in NATO's European allies have started deploying logistical and other support assets to conflict zones surrounding Iran.

Lute told reporters: "An increasing number of European countries are pre-positioning essential logistics and other support in areas near potential battlefields—such as mine-sweeping vessels and anti-mine warfare ships—to prepare for the next phase."

According to the Secretary General, European nations "have understood the signals sent by Trump." He added: "We see all these countries currently engaging in bilateral cooperation with the United States, fulfilling American requirements regarding base usage and all necessary logistical support."

Lute also noted that Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany reflects Washington’s 'disappointment' with its European allies’ stance on the Iran issue.
