American oil capital ExxonMobil executives deeply involved in Kazakhstan met with the Kazakh Prime Minister to discuss oil and gas cooperation and infrastructure development.

The American oil capital ExxonMobil has stakes in the Tengiz field, which is the highest producing oil field in Kazakhstan, and the Kashagan field, which holds the largest oil reserves in Kazakhstan.

According to the official website of the Kazakh Prime Minister, on May 28, Kazakh Prime Minister Bauyrzhan Bekbolatov met with Peter Lardon, senior vice president of ExxonMobil in Astana.

The two sides had in-depth exchanges on issues such as cooperation in the oil and gas sector, infrastructure construction, and the introduction of advanced technologies, and discussed the potential for expanding cooperation in multiple directions.

The meeting particularly focused on the implementation status and future plans of several key cooperative projects, including the development progress of the Tengiz and Kashagan fields, as well as further utilization of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) oil transportation system. Notably, the launch of the expansion project of the Tengiz oil field was considered to further consolidate Kazakhstan's strategic position in the global energy market.

The two sides also discussed the specific stages of the development work of the Kashagan field, with a focus on increasing production capacity and advancing preparations for Stage 2A. Stage 2A will build a natural gas processing plant with an annual processing capacity of 2.5 billion cubic meters.

The meeting emphasized the importance of making decisions on the implementation of Stage 2B as soon as possible. According to reports, since the field began its development, it has cumulatively produced approximately 906 million barrels of oil and 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on ensuring the safety, stability, and uninterrupted operation of the CPC oil pipeline, which is one of the key channels for Kazakhstan's crude oil exports to international markets.
