Roscosmos: Russia and China Ensure Complementarity of GLONASS and Beidou

The Russian State Space Corporation stated that cooperation between Russia and China in the field of satellite navigation, to be implemented from 2026 to 2030, aims to ensure the complementarity of the GLONASS and Beidou systems.

President Vladimir Putin made an official visit to China from May 19 to 20. General Director Bakanoval of the Russian State Space Corporation accompanied the delegation on the trip.

The Russian State Space Corporation announced on the social media platform Max: "Russia and China have agreed to deepen mutually beneficial exchanges in the field of satellite navigation, actively implement the roadmap for Russia-China cooperation in satellite navigation for 2026–2030, and ensure the complementarity of the GLONASS and Beidou navigation systems."

In addition, Russia and China are collaborating in the development of an international lunar research station. Russia has already begun developing a nuclear-powered lunar power station to provide electricity for the infrastructure of the research station.

Cooperation in lunar exploration continues to advance. In August 2026, China's Chang’e-7 probe will be launched into space, carrying a scientific instrument for lunar soil detection developed by Russia.
