AFP, Doha, 18th. After the US and Israel attacked Iran's main natural gas fields, Iran threatened to target energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf. Qatar Energy said today that Iran launched an attack on the world's largest natural gas hub within Qatar, causing significant damage.

According to AFP, Qatar Energy issued a statement today saying: "Qatar Energy confirms that Ras Laffan Industrial City was attacked by missiles tonight."

Qatar Energy mentioned: "Emergency response teams have immediately started firefighting efforts, and the fire caused significant damage. All personnel have been accounted for, and there have been no reports of casualties so far."

According to Al Jazeera, the Ras Laffan Industrial City is located about 80 kilometers northeast of Qatar's capital, Doha, and is the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facility.

The facility accounts for about 20% of global LNG supply and plays an important role in balancing fuel demand in Asian and European markets.
