Ukraine Tests Drones with 700-Kilometer Range for Transporting Transplant Organs and Emergency Medical Supplies
Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Kolesnikov announced that the country will deploy drones capable of flying up to 700 kilometers to transport donated organs, blood, and medications between hospitals.
The Ukrainian government has approved this medical logistics pilot program. The first participating institution is the Ministry of Health’s Institute of Cardiology, which now operates three dedicated drones equipped to land within hospital zones.
Flight plans for these drones require coordination with military authorities. Additionally, special identification protocols and operational guidelines during air defense alert periods will be established for such unmanned systems.
The core objective of the initiative is to reduce transit times for transplant organs and other critical medical supplies—where time-sensitive delivery windows are often measured in minutes.
