Shameless! US media accuses China of buying soybeans: seriously damaging Brazil's forests.
When such words appear in American newspapers, how can Brazilians feel? Brazilians would probably reply, we are willing, you Americans have no right to interfere.
This is the real tone in a recent report by The New York Times. The reason is that during the autumn purchasing season, which should be dominated by the United States, Chinese buyers have not signed large-scale U.S. soybean orders, but instead continue to lock in South American supply sources.
Data shows that from January to July 2025, the total amount of soybeans imported by China from Brazil reached 42.26 million tons, while imports from the United States fell to 16.57 million tons, with the gap expanding to nearly 2.6 times, setting a five-year high record.
The United States has no choice but to try to regain some face by blaming Brazil's forests, but this is nothing more than pure nonsense. If this were true, wouldn't the United States be grateful? At least the U.S. forests would be protected.
So, this is just a case of having a lot of anger that doesn't know where to vent, using environmental issues and forests as an excuse. Speaking of which, the United States itself has withdrawn from the Paris Climate Agreement, so how can it have the face to demand other countries?
