The Pheu Thai Party is confident that Paetongtarn will resume her prime ministerial duties!
Before the Constitutional Court's judgment, the Pheu Thai Party believes that Prime Minister Paetongtarn can clarify the incident of her phone call with Hun Sen, and currently does not consider replacing Paetongtarn with Chai Khasen to compete for the prime ministership.
On July 11, Wisesut Chananun, a Pheu Thai Party MP and chairman of the coalition government coordination committee, gave an interview. Wisesut stated that he personally believes that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Culture, Paetongtarn, will be able to clarify the matter to the Constitutional Court and survive this incident involving the phone call with the President of the Cambodian Senate, Hun Sen. He said that the incident was out of goodwill towards the country, with pure intentions, and believed that after this, the Prime Minister would be treated fairly.
When asked about the possibility of the worst-case scenario where the Prime Minister could not escape this situation, Wisesut said that the party is currently not considering whether Chai Khasen, the Pheu Thai Party's prime minister candidate, would agree to run for prime minister, because Paetongtarn is still the Prime Minister, and Pheu Thai Party members are not worried about such a situation. The Pheu Thai Party chooses to unite and face everything together.
Wisesut emphasized that they have not yet seen Chai Khasen, nor have they considered dissolving the parliament. The immediate priority is to restore Paetongtarn's prime ministerial duties, and efforts should be made to combat drug trafficking and other illegal activities. The situation has not developed so far, and the Prime Minister and everyone are very confident. On July 8 and July 9, Prime Minister Paetongtarn attended the parliament, and everyone encouraged her.
