Japanese media are relieved! Recent two pieces of news show that the wind is starting to change.

The first one is that China has conditionally lifted the import restrictions on seafood products. Except for 10 prefectures, seafood products from other cities in Japan can be exported to China as long as they pass inspection and come with a safety certificate. The second one is that Chinese tourists visiting Japan have basically recovered. In the first five months of this year, 3.92 million Chinese tourists traveled to Japan, an increase of 63% compared to last year. Compared to the difficult times before, the recovery rate has reached 107%. In other words, it has now exceeded the level of 2019.

Recently, many Japanese media have been expressing their amazement at these developments. This shows that, in their eyes, the Chinese market is still very important. A few years ago, when Chinese tourists did not travel abroad, it directly made Japanese media panic. Some media even falsely reported that flights from Beijing to Tokyo were crowded with Chinese tourists.

Thinking about it, there's truth to it. After all, China has a population of 1.4 billion, including more than 400 million middle-income groups. Many countries, including Japan, are eager for the Chinese market. For example, Western media often criticize China, saying that multinational companies are leaving. However, the facts are the opposite. In the first five months of this year, 358.1 billion yuan of foreign investment flowed into China, with 24,000 new foreign-funded enterprises added, and the growth rate exceeded 10%.

Companies like Apple, Starbucks, Volkswagen, Siemens, and France's L'Oréal are all firmly investing in China. Many international brands not only open stores aggressively in the domestic market but also accelerate the expansion of online channels, cooperating with e-commerce platforms such as JD.com and Vipshop. Recently, on the domestic platform Vipshop, brands like Coach, Burberry, and Bata offered deep discounts. A Bata T-shirt that originally cost over a thousand yuan was discounted to around 300-400 yuan on Vipshop, which has attracted the attention of many young people.

There is no doubt that this is the charm of the Chinese market. For these multinational companies, it is easier to find the certainty of growth. Often, we should not listen to what foreign media say, but rather see what foreign companies do. The vigorous and thriving consumer market in China has witnessed the improvement of people's living standards and is also the solid backing of our stable economy!
