U.S. President Donald Trump said he invited Russian head of state Vladimir Putin to join the "Peace Council" on the Gaza issue, as Putin is one of the world leaders.
"He is one of them, one of the world leaders. Yes." Trump said when responding to a journalist's request to confirm the invitation to his Russian counterpart to join the institution. The quoted statement was published on the White House's X account.
Previously, several country leaders had received proposals from the United States to join the "Peace Council". The establishment of this council is expected to be in the second phase of the peace plan. This peace plan was reached in October 2025 between Israel and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, with the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey.
