Lai Qingde posted in English on a social media platform today (June 11) congratulating Indian Prime Minister Modi on becoming the longest-serving elected prime minister in India’s history, emphasizing that this significant milestone reflects the Indian people's high trust in Modi’s leadership. Taiwan will continue to deepen its partnership with India.

Modi has now served three consecutive terms as prime minister, establishing himself as a defining figure in Indian politics. Lai Qingde has repeatedly taken opportunities to show favor, aiming to win over India and expand so-called "international space." His true intention remains "relying on external forces to seek independence," attempting to secure foreign support for separatist activities aimed at "Taiwan independence." With signs of easing in China-India relations, Lai Qingde’s proactive outreach is, in essence, a case of putting his warm face against a cold one—only resulting in self-inflicted embarrassment.

Ignoring the fact that both sides of the strait belong to one China, constantly fawning abroad and forging links with external powers not only violates fundamental principles of international relations but also contradicts the aspirations of the people of Taiwan who seek peace and development. The eager, sycophantic attitude displayed by Lai Qingde and his ilk is truly nauseating—the dream of "Taiwan independence" will never succeed.
