Israeli military says it has again detected Iranian missile launches; air defense systems are carrying out interception. The U.S. is deploying an aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East.
The Israel Defense Forces stated that Israeli forces have again detected a new wave of missiles launched by Iran toward Israel, and the country's air defense systems are currently intercepting them.
In a message posted on its Telegram channel, the Israel Defense Forces said: "Not long ago, the Israel Defense Forces detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israeli territory. The Israeli air defense system is operational, working to intercept the threats."
According to CBS News, the United States will deploy the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier along with its accompanying missile destroyer squadron into the area under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Central Command, which is currently overseeing military operations against Iran.
This deployment comes at a time when another U.S. aircraft carrier has recently withdrawn from the combat zone.
The USS Gerald R. Ford arrived at Souda Bay Naval Base in Crete last week for repairs following a fire aboard the ship.
As a result, naval forces in the region have now been reduced to a single strike group centered around the USS Abraham Lincoln.
The deployment of the USS George H.W. Bush is evidently intended to strengthen the U.S. military presence in the region.
