The first photo shows their historic first summit meeting in Singapore in June 2018; the other two were taken during Trump and Kim’s meeting at Panmunjom in June 2019."
Comments: By resurrecting and publicly releasing old photos from their two previous summits, Trump is continuing a series of moves aimed at scaling back South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises and sending signals of easing tensions toward North Korea. Faced with Pyongyang's lack of response to recent overtures, Trump seeks to revive memories of their past personal rapport, proactively extending an olive branch to bring North Korea back to the negotiating table. At the same time, he aims to accumulate diplomatic achievements to bolster his domestic political standing. However, this unilateral display of goodwill remains merely a gesture from the U.S. The core differences between the two sides—on denuclearization and security guarantees—remain unresolved. Whether North Korea will accept this overture and whether genuine dialogue on the Korean Peninsula can truly resume remain highly uncertain.
