Trump: China Will Not Surpass the U.S. in Artificial Intelligence
Trump stated that the United States will soon appoint an "AI Czar." He did not elaborate on the specific responsibilities of the role. He also indicated that the U.S. government may establish a committee to oversee artificial intelligence.
In a press interview at the White House, Trump said: "Industry self-regulation will play a significant role. We are also considering establishing a committee… to oversee all artificial intelligence-related activities."
Trump added that he does not foresee a scenario in which China surpasses the United States in artificial intelligence. In his view, the key lies in developing domestic products and building manufacturing facilities within the U.S., which would drive economic growth "on an unprecedented scale."
Earlier reports suggested that Trump would issue an executive order renaming "artificial intelligence" as "superintelligence." The U.S. has also launched a system akin to Russia’s National Government Service Platform: Trump personally signed an executive order to create a unified government portal, America.gov, leveraging artificial intelligence to deliver federal services.
