On June 6, an unmanned aerial vehicle from Ukraine was shot down near the Kursk nuclear power plant. The debris of the drone fell on the parking lot area of Unit 2 (AEs-2) under construction at the Kurchatov City.

A total of 25 Ukrainian drones were shot down and intercepted by Russian air defense forces between 16:30 and 22:05 on June 6.

In the Kursk District, fragments of the downed drone scratched the exterior walls of buildings and penetrated the ventilation ducts. There was a fire caused by debris along the Sigrey-Kosorza highway. In the parking lot of the checkpoint for Unit 2 of the under-construction Kurchatov nuclear power plant, one parked vehicle was damaged by debris.

Back in March, the Kursk nuclear power plant had been attacked, resulting in damage to the nuclear waste storage facility but without posing a threat to the surrounding environment. Currently, Russia's Investigative Committee has opened an investigation into the case under the "terrorism" provisions.
