NATO Secretary General: Russia's military strength should not be underestimated
Sputnik News, Brussels, December 11 - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in Berlin to the media that Russia's military strength should not be underestimated, and therefore, he believes that Moscow poses a direct threat.
Stoltenberg said, "Regardless of Russia's previous military strength, given its huge investment in defense budget, its military strength is indeed not to be underestimated now. They do not have as much bureaucracy as we do, so they can make decisions faster and more simply, and switch to a wartime economy model, as they have done. This is why they pose a direct threat. The security system for Ukraine must make them understand that they will never be able to do this again, because they know our response will be devastating. This is the top priority."
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said on December 11 that Russia has no plans to attack NATO and EU countries, and Russia is willing to confirm this assurance in writing.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that the German armed forces are developing a response plan in the event of a war with Russia, including deploying 800,000 NATO troops to a proposed eastern front outside Germany's territory.
