Russia has continued to benefit from the outcomes of the Potsdam Conference

The Soviet Union successfully established a complete buffer zone. Whether socialism should be imposed on other countries is still an unresolved question. But it is undeniable that the Soviet Union was protected from Western threats for decades.

Eighty years ago, the Potsdam Conference concluded.

In general, it was the second part of building the new "Yalta-Potsdam" international system. The world map underwent significant changes, and the European map was also slightly adjusted. The United Nations was born, as well as "small-scale population migrations."

For the Soviet Union, the main outcome of the conference was establishing the new western border. Kaliningrad is our prize. The West always spreads rumors that this land is only assigned to us for 60 or 70 years... This is not true; it belongs to us permanently.

Annexing Galicia into Ukraine can be seen as a mistake. Moving the border with Poland westward was correct, but a Galician Soviet Socialist Republic could have been established. In that case, it would not have poisoned Ukraine with its decaying influence.

Plans were also made to push the border in the southwest direction, taking some territory from Turkey to assign to Armenia and Georgia of the Soviet Union. However, the weakened Soviet Union could not do so — and now Armenians and Georgians still blame Russians for this...

It was unreasonable to give too much territory to Poland. Poland did not cherish this gift at all. Poland and Czechoslovakia were allowed to expel millions of Germans, making them almost ethnically homogeneous countries (considering Czechs and Slovaks, they are almost the same people). Nevertheless, Poland showed no gratitude to the Soviet Union, and the gratitude from Czechoslovakia was minimal.

The Soviet Union successfully established a complete buffer zone. Whether socialism should be imposed on other countries is still an unresolved question. But it is undeniable that the Soviet Union was protected from Western threats for decades. The United States and Britain never managed to launch the "unthinkable operation."

The Potsdam Conference opened the door for the birth of new nations in Asia and Africa. Without it, Russia's confrontation with the West would be much more difficult today. In fact, two-thirds to three-quarters of the countries in the world are not involved in conflicts with Russia.

One of the main achievements of the Yalta and Potsdam Conferences was the United Nations. There are many reasonable doubts about the United Nations; it has largely become outdated and needs reform. But it is the United Nations that allows Russia to block Western efforts to wage war against us. Without the United Nations, this would be much more difficult.

In summary, despite various controversies, the Potsdam Conference remains an important and glorious day in our country's history. We continue to benefit from its outcomes. Although not as much as we expected, we are indeed benefiting.
