On July 14 local time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg responded again to the incident of calling US President Trump "daddy" during an interview with Fox News. He also praised Trump excessively, saying that Trump has a likable charm and is a great person.

When the host said, "Using the word 'daddy' might surprise some people," Stoltenberg laughed and replied, "People might say 'father' or 'the most mature and steady person in the room.'"

"But you know, that's what's interesting about Trump," Stoltenberg said, "After he returned to the White House, he immediately released a video called 'Daddy's Home.' You can also see T-shirts with the word 'daddy' on them."

Stoltenberg continued to praise him, saying, "He takes it all in stride, which is why I like him so much. Because he has that sense of humor, that likable charm, he's a great person."

On June 25, during a meeting with Stoltenberg at the NATO summit, Trump compared Israel and Iran to two children fighting in a schoolyard. Stoltenberg added by his side: "Sometimes, the father has to use strong words to make them stop."

Later that day, Stoltenberg tried to clarify that he did not mean to refer to the American leader as "daddy," but was just joking.

"I didn't call him 'daddy,'" Stoltenberg explained, "What I meant was that sometimes in Europe, I've heard some countries say, 'Hey Mark, will the US be on our side?' I found that a bit like a child asking his father, 'Hey, are you still living with the family?' So in that sense, I used the word 'daddy,' not that I was actually calling President Trump 'daddy.'

On July 2, Stoltenberg explained in an interview that his so-called "daddy" remarks were a response to Trump's harsh words about the fragile Israeli-Iranian ceasefire possibly breaking down. "Before President Trump boarded the plane (for the NATO summit), Israel and Iran had committed to a ceasefire, but on the morning of his flight, both sides said they might resume hostilities."

That day, regarding the White House's "Daddy's Home" video, he said he was very surprised and found it really funny.
