Peskov talks about possible outcomes of a private meeting between Putin and Trump
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Pavel Zarubin, a journalist from "Russia 1" TV station, that Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will certainly hold a private meeting, and the two presidents may reach important agreements during the meeting.
He said: "If possible, such a meeting to reach some important agreements will be needed, and these agreements will be gradually achieved over time after a lot of work. But this timing has not arrived yet. Only this work is about to be completed."
Other statements by Peskov:
¬ The last conversation between Putin and Trump was a practical one, with both sides maintaining firm positions, but also willing to listen to each other's opinions;
¬ The resolution of the Ukraine issue is a long and difficult process that requires effort, and the United States has increasingly understood this: "Trump is the president of the largest country and the largest economy in the world. And it can be said that everyone has become accustomed to his rather tough and straightforward words. At the same time, he has clearly stated his willingness to do everything possible to promote a peaceful resolution";
¬ Putin has repeatedly expressed his hope to quickly promote the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine issue;
¬ Russia is ready to take action quickly on this issue, but for Russia, the most important thing is to achieve its own goals.
