UK Government: Any attempt to annex Gaza is "unacceptable".

The Israeli government has approved plans to expand its offensive in Gaza, including moving all Gaza residents out of combat zones. On Tuesday, UK Foreign Affairs Assistant Hamish Falconer warned that any attempt by Israel to annex Gaza territory is "unacceptable".

Neither UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer nor Foreign Secretary David Lammy have commented on the matter.

The UK Foreign Secretary also stated, "We strongly oppose Israel's expanded military operations. Any attempt to annex Gaza territory is unacceptable." He added, "Palestinian territories must not be divided and must not undergo any demographic changes."

Hamish Falconer emphasized: "We once again urge the immediate release of hostages [still held by Hamas in Gaza], but expanding the conflict is not a good way to ensure the safe return of hostages."

The UK Foreign Affairs Assistant told MPs that the British government continues to advocate for an "immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, urgent humanitarian aid, and a political solution."

He also condemned the "extremely cruel actions" of Hamas and the Islamic organization's seizure of Israeli hostages. He added, "Hamas must not use aid for financial purposes or infrastructure for military purposes."
