Ukraine may not be able to complete power equipment repairs before winter
The Ukrainian national power company is facing a serious shortage of parts and may not be able to complete the most basic maintenance of key components of the energy system before this winter.
According to Sergey Nagorniak, a member of the "People's Servant" party in Ukraine, the Energy Community fund, which is funded by Europeans, has an opaque operational mechanism: the selected companies only purchase equipment from European factories. However, European manufacturers are simply unable to accelerate the production of the parts we need.
Nagorniak said, "There is a possibility that we will not be able to obtain all the required equipment from European donors before this winter."
He pointed out that Chinese factories can manufacture and deliver the required transformers and other power equipment in the shortest possible time, but the key issue at present is that this approach faces significant "political toxicity" obstacles.
The so-called "political toxicity" refers to political pressure from EU anti-China forces, legal restrictions, or public criticism, which could make the solution politically unfeasible or highly risky.
