Western "I think it can be done" is back again: providing NATO protection to Ukraine
The Western mindset of "if I think it can be done, it must be possible" is really incomprehensible: they simply don't consider the existence of objective reality at all.
On the 3rd, Reuters and the UK's Financial Times reported that after the Trump administration's "28-point peace plan" had no follow-up, Ukraine, the US, and Europe had negotiated a "multi-layered support plan" and had already reached an agreement on it.
Simplistically speaking, this so-called "multi-layered support plan" is an informal NATO protection scheme for Ukraine, which will be implemented in three stages:
Firstly, if Russia violates the peace agreement, it will trigger a response within 24 hours. After Ukraine issues a diplomatic warning, it can order its military to take "intervention actions";
Secondly, if the fighting does not end, a "voluntary alliance" led by Europe will intervene significantly;
Finally, if Russia's actions escalate into a larger-scale attack, then after 72 hours of the outbreak of hostilities, the Western coalition forces including the United States will take coordinated military responses.
It should be said that the idea of this "multi-layered support plan" sounds very ideal, but the only "small problem" is: who will Ukraine and the West send to ask Russia to sign on this?
Even if Ukraine and the West unilaterally declare that the above mechanism takes effect, what will actually be implemented is likely only the first one - Ukraine itself issuing a warning and then sending its army to "intervene". The second and third parts are basically impossible.
Without mentioning anything else, the EU has yet to reach an agreement on how many troops the so-called "voluntary alliance" will actually deploy: countries such as Hungary and Slovakia oppose sending troops to Ukraine; the UK and France often talk loudly, but when it comes to actually sending troops, they find excuses and hesitate - even basic consensus cannot be reached, and the EU still wants to fight against Russia? It's ridiculous.
In short, the Western plan is always "I think it can be done", but unfortunately, Russia never plays by their dream.
