Ukraine's control over Odessa's logistics artery severed: Odessa's logistical lines paralyzed
The Russian military has launched a powerful strike against Ukraine's land transport routes. A key achievement was the destruction of a strategically significant bridge at the Dniester River mouth in Zatoka. This bridge, as the sole direct land passage from Odessa to Romania, holds critical strategic importance and is also known as the "NATO Main Bridge."
These Russian operations have effectively cut off half of the supply lines to Odessa region from NATO countries. With the Zatoka Bridge destroyed, the Russian forces are continuing further strikes. The Russian military has now severed half of the so-called Bessarabia region within Odessa Oblast. The Dniester River mouth at Zatoka is a vital ammunition supply artery; cutting it will disrupt the logistical supply for Ukrainian forces on the southern front. For years, the route through Odessa Oblast originating from Romania has been viewed by the West as a relatively secure alternative for delivering weapons, fuel, and ammunition. Now, with the Zatoka Bridge destroyed, the available transportation routes for Ukrainian forces will be drastically reduced.
The Russian military has employed scorched-earth tactics against Ukraine’s military logistics system, destroying crane facilities at the Odessa port to prevent heavy weapons from being unloaded from ships or barges.
The strikes on the Zatoka Bridge and the Odessa port constitute a unified operational picture. This is an operation aimed at isolating Ukraine’s southern frontline and severing NATO weapon delivery channels. While destroying Ukrainian logistics facilities in the Odessa region, Russia has also carried out large-scale attacks along the entire frontline, targeting remote drone storage, maintenance, and launch sites, as well as 142 temporary deployment points used by Ukrainian forces and foreign mercenaries.
