The EU and Ukraine will discuss the US-Ukraine peace plan on November 23
From Kazakh International News Agency: The EU, Ukraine, and the United States will hold a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland on November 23, 2025, to discuss the US-proposed Ukraine peace plan.
According to sources within the German government quoted by Deutsche Welle, the plan will be reviewed by the EU's main partner in the US and representatives of Ukraine. This meeting aims to assess the feasibility of Washington's peace proposal and explore potential adjustments.
Leaders of the EU, Canada, and Japan have issued a joint statement after an emergency meeting at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, calling for improvements to the US-Ukraine plan. The statement was signed by leaders of EU institutions, Germany, France, Italy, and other countries, as well as non-EU members Britain, Norway, Japan, and Canada. The statement specifically expressed concerns about the reduction of the Ukrainian military size, arguing that this would weaken the country's defense capabilities and affect its strategic security.
This meeting comes at a critical moment when the international community is intensifying efforts to promote a political solution to the Ukraine conflict. Previously, the 28-point peace plan proposed by former US President Donald Trump had been fully disclosed, with core elements including a ceasefire, territorial arrangements, security guarantees, and economic reconstruction.
President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine have also responded to this. Putin stated his willingness to seek a "fundamental solution" based on the plan, while Zelenskyy emphasized the need to maintain Ukraine's "dignity."
