Ukraine's First Official Response to the US Peace Plan: Ukraine Will Not Engage in Territorial Deals!
Kristina Gavryshchenko, Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, stated regarding the US peace plan for Ukraine that Ukraine will not limit its own army or engage in territorial deals.
Kristina confirmed that Ukraine has received a draft of the peace plan drafted by the US and is prepared to cooperate with it, but this does not mean that Ukraine will fully accept Washington's key opinions. Ukraine is ready for substantive negotiations, including at the leadership level, but the red lines will remain unchanged.
First, Ukraine does not trade territory, so it will not formally or in any other way recognize Russia's occupation of its land; second, Kyiv does not intend to impose any restrictions on the number of Ukrainian forces and weapons, as Ukraine has the right to self-defense; Ukraine does not accept sovereignty constraints, and Kyiv will decide on its own which alliances to join and who to be friends with. The US and Russia have no right to discuss issues related to Ukraine without Kyiv's participation.
"Any genuine peace process must respect a fundamental principle: Do not talk about Ukraine without Ukraine, and do not talk about Europe without Europe."
