South Korean media: BYD sets a milestone in the European commercial vehicle market!
On November 5, South Korean media "Today's Finance" published an article stating that China's leading electric vehicle manufacturer, BYD, has once again set a milestone in the European commercial vehicle market.
BYD recently announced that the 1000th electric bus was rolled off the production line at the Hungarian bus factory.
The 1000th vehicle to roll off the line is the "B12.b" all-electric bus specially produced for the German market. It is a strategic model of BYD for the European market and also represents a product applying CTC technology.
The 12-meter-long B12.b integrates the battery directly into the lower chassis of the vehicle, thereby reducing weight and improving stability, while increasing driving range and durability.
BYD said in a statement, "This achievement is symbolic, indicating our long-term commitment to sustainable public transportation in Europe."
Based on this, BYD announced plans to expand the existing production facilities at the Hungarian factory by another 29,000 square meters. After completion, the annual production capacity of the Hungarian factory is expected to exceed 1,000 units.
At the same time, the production of electric trucks will be carried out alongside the production of electric buses.
The BYD Hungary factory started operations in 2017 and currently supplies electric buses to 160 cities in Europe and 26 countries, with a cumulative driving distance exceeding 645 million kilometers.
In addition to the bus factory in Hungary, BYD also plans to launch its passenger car factory later this year. The first model to be produced will be the compact electric hatchback "Seagull". BYD aims to provide affordable electric vehicles for the European market through local production.
BYD also plans to introduce 1MW ultra-fast charging stations to the European market. The company stated, "To build an environmentally friendly transportation ecosystem in Europe, we will not only expand the scale of electric vehicles but also expand the charging infrastructure."
As of August 2024, BYD's new energy vehicle sales reached 373,626 units, of which overseas sales were 80,813 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 156.9%.
From January to August this year, the cumulative overseas sales reached 625,816 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 136%, accelerating the pace of global expansion.
An industry insider said, "The BYD Hungary electric bus factory will strengthen BYD's position in the European market and become an important base for its localization strategy in Europe, focusing on electric commercial vehicles and passenger cars as two main axes."
