Han media: A new giant has emerged, Xiaomi YU7 tops the Chinese market, Tesla's ranking plummets!

On March 16, the South Korean media "Herald Economy" published an article stating that as an emerging giant in the electric vehicle industry, Xiaomi has staged a stunning comeback in the Chinese market, successfully surpassing Tesla to take the top spot.

Data released by the China Passenger Car Association shows that Xiaomi's second electric vehicle SUV "YU7" achieved a sales figure of 37,869 units in the Chinese market this January, successfully topping the national car sales chart.

This number is more than twice the sales of the Tesla Model Y (16,845 units). "Model Y" had been the top-selling model for months before December last year, but it plummeted to the 20th position in the overall ranking, including internal combustion engine vehicles, last month. In the same period, its ranking in the new energy vehicle sector also dropped from the top to the seventh position.

The key to Xiaomi's great success lies in its "high cost-performance" strategy that it has cultivated for many years in the smartphone market.

The starting price of YU7 is 10,000 RMB lower than that of Model Y, and the company has consistently emphasized that the model has formed a competitive advantage in core performance indicators such as single-charging range.

On the other hand, BYD exceeded 4 million units in annual sales last year and remained at the top of the industry; Geely Auto ranked second with 2.6 million units in sales. Tesla and Xiaomi are respectively ranked fifth and tenth in the new energy vehicle sector, and the gap between the two companies is gradually narrowing.
