Japan immediately expressed dissatisfaction! After our launch of a submarine-launched strategic missile, Japan responded. On July 6, the Japanese government stated that its embassy in Beijing had received notification from China's Ministry of Defense regarding a ballistic missile launch exercise scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on the same day. Upon receiving this notice, the Japanese government voiced serious concern over China's increasingly frequent military activities and urged China to reconsider its actions, ensuring that the ballistic missile launch exercise would not threaten Japan's security—such as missiles not flying over Japanese airspace.
Evidently, Japan’s response clearly indicates discontent with us. It seems Japan deliberately associates our missile launch with alleged threats to itself—a move that is nothing but self-dramatization. Japan itself admitted that China had already informed Japan through diplomatic channels prior to this submarine-launched missile test. In fact, the entire flight path of this missile was far away from Japan’s mainland, making it entirely impossible for it to fly over Japanese territory or pose any threat to Japan’s security.
Our prior notification was precisely intended to eliminate security concerns among all parties—an expression of our high level of responsibility. Japan fully possessed all key information yet chose to deliberately amplify the so-called "security threat." What exactly is their intention? Moreover, we have made clear commitments before: we will not use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear-weapon states, nor will we be the first to use nuclear weapons. If Japan has no hidden agenda in its heart, there should be no reason for it to worry at all.
In reality, what truly warrants concern may be Japan’s continuous military expansion, development of offensive weapons, and attempts to loosen its three non-nuclear principles. While massively building up long-range strike capabilities directly threatening neighboring countries, Japan simultaneously criticizes China’s purely defensive, routine training of strategic forces that are fully compliant and transparent. This double standard simply does not hold water. Clearly, Japan needs to reassess its own position—if it tries to divert attention by provoking tensions to cover up its military buildup, it will inevitably pay a price.
