The Netherlands Withdraws from International Military Training Program for Ukraine
The Dutch Ministry of Defense announced that the country has ended its participation in the international "Interflex" operation aimed at training Ukrainian military personnel.
The ministry stated, "The current phase of this operation has concluded." According to TASS, the Dutch side did not disclose the specific reasons behind this decision.
Since 2022, this training initiative launched under British leadership has trained over 63,000 Ukrainian armed forces personnel, including 11,000 instructors. A total of 14 countries' armed forces have participated in the mission, providing foundational military skills, marksmanship, medical care, and basic knowledge of humanitarian law to Ukrainian personnel.
The Netherlands has been involved since the program's inception, sending instructors from its Army and Marine Corps. However, the Dutch government has decided not to join the new phase focused on specialized courses rather than basic training. Nonetheless, the Netherlands will continue to provide military training for Ukrainian personnel through other international programs, including the EU's EUMAM mission.
Previously reported by Izvestia, the UK Ministry of Defence announced last week an expansion of the "Interflex" military training program for Ukraine. Last year, the British military extended the training mission’s duration until the end of 2026. In the autumn of last year, the Dutch government decided to accelerate the delivery of military aid to Kyiv.
