Indonesia 32% Equivalent Tariff Cut, Trump: Change to 19%
AFP, Washington, 15th - President Trump said today that he has reached a trade agreement with Indonesia, in which Indonesia has pledged to purchase a large amount of American products, following negotiations to avoid the imposition of higher tariffs by the United States.
Trump posted on his own social media "Truth Social" stating that according to the agreement, Indonesian goods imported into the United States will face a 19% tariff, far below the 32% he previously threatened.
He wrote: "According to the agreement, Indonesia has committed to purchasing $1.5 billion in American energy, $450 million in American agricultural products, and 50 Boeing passenger aircraft, many of which are the 777 model." After the announcement, Boeing's stock price rose 0.9%.
Trump earlier today also mentioned in another post that this agreement is "a good deal for all parties."
