Foreign Media: Iran Is Preparing for a New Round of War in the Middle East
According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, Tehran has been preparing for larger-scale military operations over the past two months and views agreements with the United States as an attempt by Washington and Israel to buy time.
Iran is strengthening the influence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) over the military, assigning veterans who survived the Iran-Iraq War to key positions, while simultaneously expanding counterintelligence efforts and accelerating the production of missiles and drones.
Meanwhile, Tehran is maintaining contact with armed groups in Yemen and Iraq to prepare them for potential escalation of conflict and increase pressure on the United States:
Mohammad Hassan Sangtarash, an Iranian military analyst, said, “It is widely believed within Iran that a large-scale war has not truly begun yet. What we have seen so far is increasingly interpreted as a 'salami tactics' approach—limited, phased escalations aimed at weakening adversaries before a larger confrontation.”
Despite suffering strikes from the United States, Iran's military infrastructure is recovering faster than expected. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claims that during the ceasefire period, they accelerated missile production and improved their precision.
