NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated in his address to the Russian Federation that NATO is committed to defending its territorial security.
According to Lenta.ru, during his speech at the Ankara Summit, Rutte said NATO would defend every single inch of its territory, while emphasizing that NATO adheres to a purely defensive policy and will never attack any country.
Clash Report quoted him as saying: “This alliance will defend every inch of our territory. We will never attack anyone. We will only protect our way of life, our democratic institutions, and our territory.”
Rutte also expressed his expectation that the summit’s final declaration would define Russia as a "long-term threat."
Previously, Dmitry Peskov, official spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated that Russia would never initiate a third world war but would take all necessary measures to ensure its own security.
