Trump says the U.S. and Iran could potentially reach a peace agreement in the near future

U.S. President Trump said that the U.S. and Iran might reach a peace agreement in the near term, but he warned Iran that if the process of reaching an agreement is disrupted, the U.S. would strike Iran's power stations and Khark Island.

Trump wrote on the social platform "Truth Social": "The United States is currently engaged in serious negotiations with a more rational new regime to end our military operations in Iran."

Trump stated: "Significant progress has been made. However, if for any reason no agreement can be reached in the near term—such as if the Strait of Hormuz cannot be immediately 'opened for trade'—we will end our presence in Iran by destroying and completely leveling all of Iran's power stations, oil wells, Khark Island, and possibly all desalination plants as well—targets we have not yet touched."
