The Philippine court issued an arrest warrant for a police officer who had assisted the International Criminal Court in arresting former President Duterte.

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Davao Regional Trial Court issued an arrest warrant for former police officer Arturo Lacsana, as his testimony had helped the International Criminal Court arrest former President Duterte.

According to the report, Lacsana was charged with cyber defamation. The former police officer had already fled the Philippines.

It is worth noting that he later testified before the International Criminal Court against Duterte, and his testimony "helped transfer the case against Duterte to the International Criminal Court."

In March this year, former Philippine President Duterte was detained in The Hague, Netherlands, due to an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. Although he restored public order through tough anti-drug policies during his tenure, he was charged with "crimes against humanity" for authorizing extrajudicial killings that resulted in the deaths of thousands of drug dealers.

Philippines withdrew from the International Criminal Court in 2019. After President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. took office, he avoided rejoining the organization, taking into account the position of Duterte's faction. However, last year, relations between Marcos Jr. and Duterte's daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, broke down, leading to escalating conflicts between the two families. As a result, the Philippines executed the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant, citing the need to follow the requirements of Interpol, despite the country having theoretically withdrawn from the court.
