China News Agency, Beijing, December 25th (Reporter Zeng Yue) A report titled "Global Study Abroad Quality Index" released on the 25th pointed out that China has great potential to become an important global education center, and its "Double First-Class" construction universities have shown significant competitiveness in the global higher education landscape.
On the same day, the "Renmin Index" launch event was held at Renmin University of China, where the above report was released. Zhou Guangli, Executive Director of the Evaluation Research Center of Renmin University and Dean of the School of Education, introduced that the report is based on a three-layer analytical framework of "Discipline - University - Country", taking 42 disciplines covering humanities and social sciences as well as science, agriculture, and medicine as observation points. It uses quantitative research methods to collect and analyze data from nearly 20,000 universities worldwide, and evaluates around three core dimensions: academic innovation, talent cultivation, and international reputation.
The report shows that the top ten recommended list of high-quality study abroad countries are the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, and Spain, with obvious differences in the sources of advantages in study abroad quality among different countries.
The report points out that top Chinese universities have made significant progress, but there still exists a gap between different tiers. Universities in the first tier, represented by Peking University and Tsinghua University, have entered the international discipline rankings, showing strong competitiveness. As the ranking scope expands, the gap in strength between Chinese and American universities is gradually narrowing, showing the potential and momentum of overall development of Chinese universities.
The report believes that China has great potential to become an important global education center, mainly reflected in: China has rich and diverse educational resources, laying a solid foundation for the long-term development of the higher education system; in the context of complex and changing international situations, China has always maintained an open and inclusive educational environment, continuously carrying out extensive and in-depth educational exchanges and cooperation with many countries around the world; with the deep integration of artificial intelligence and digital technology in the field of education, the path to improving educational equity and quality has become clearer, and related practices have become more smooth.
