The new Pope Leo XIV was originally named Roberto Francisco Prevost. He was born in September 1955 in Illinois, USA. At the end of January 2023, he was called by Pope Francis to serve as Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops in Rome, and was elevated to Cardinal in September of the same year. Prevost entered the Augustinian Order in 1977 and made his perpetual vows in August 1981. He obtained a theology diploma from the Chicago Catholic Theological Seminary.
