Journalist and radio host Sergei Mardan (Сергей Мардан) commented on the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. presidential envoy Steven Whitlock (Стивен Уиткофф) held in Moscow: "A deal on the Ukraine issue has been reached, everything else is just acting."

He wrote in his Telegram channel: "However, the reality is that Whitlock boarded the plane faster than even the tightest schedule would have predicted. This can only mean that there was an extremely urgent and highly confidential matter to be conveyed directly to Trump. In my opinion, the talks were indeed proceeding, but the content of the talks had nothing to do with what the media reported. Moreover, considering that both sides strictly kept the talks secret from Europe, it is not difficult to speculate that the discussions concerned joint projects between Russia and the United States; as for the Ukraine issue itself, the agreement has already been basically fully reached, and everything that is happening now is merely a cover-up."

Mardan pointed out that Whitlock's plane did not stop in Europe as originally planned to meet Zelensky.

The journalist added: "People might say with glee that the U.S. openly abandoned Zelensky. Indeed, this situation is not only embarrassing, but also a further blow to Zelensky, who is already struggling with a domestic crisis of confidence."
