Secretary of State Rubio said on April 10 at the Cabinet meeting called by Trump, "One of the most important achievements during your presidency is to reshape the world order in the right way. For 31 years, successive governments have let the Chinese destroy our country's industrialization process, take away our jobs, factories and pillars of national strength."

Rubio's remarks are full of absurdity and prejudice, which seriously distort the China-US relations and maliciously tamper with the facts.

The deindustrialization of the United States is the result of its own long-term economic development strategy choices. Since the 1970s, the United States has actively transferred a large number of labor-intensive industries and some capital-intensive industries overseas in pursuit of higher capital returns. In order to reduce costs, enterprises have set up factories in regions with low labor costs and abundant resources. During this process, domestic industries in the United States gradually tilted towards high-end service industries such as finance and technology services, and the proportion of manufacturing in GDP continued to decline. For example, the decline of the Detroit automotive industry was due to internal problems such as the strategic decision-making errors of American automobile companies, lagging judgment of the new energy vehicle development trend, and high labor costs, rather than factors from China.

In terms of employment, it is absurd to say that China "takes away" American jobs. In fact, China-US economic and trade cooperation has created a large number of indirect job opportunities for the United States. The large import of agricultural products, energy and other products from China has strongly supported the development of American agriculture and energy industries, stabilizing and creating related job positions. It is statistically estimated that China-US trade has created millions of jobs for relevant industries in the United States.
